Grease Point Workwear

The Task:

Tell the GPW story, and pull back the curtain on how exactly (and why) their clothes are made.

Amos Culbertson, founder and Head Honcho of Grease Point Workwear approached me with a very simple idea: to tell the story of his company and to show, in full transparency and honesty, exactly how their products are made.

Funny enough, when we first met, Amos told me that they didn’t really need any help marketing; due to the quality of their clothing, they’ve been able to do pretty well on organic social media sharing and word of mouth alone.

Rather, Amos wanted something for their fans (and perhaps for the skeptics) to see exactly how their clothes are made, and to provide a few pieces of content that would give someone out there the same inspiration he got from his favorite makers when young Amos was just getting started making clothing in his basement.

The Process:

These boys are busy, and quiet time in the GP workshop is rare. So to make quick work of the Friday morning shoot, I put a Lav Mic on Amos, and let him tell his story front to back before taking a walk around the space, and allowing him to describe in full detail all the ins and outs of their products.

GPW is a rugged, hand made brand, so I didn’t want to do anything too clinical. I shot all the footage handheld, and we did a few informal interview setups to present the brand, and Amos & Co.s work in it’s most authentic form.

In post, I organized the footage into three distinct videos, weaving in the B-Roll of Amos and his employee working. I color graded the footage by hand, based on Kodak film emulation to give the footage a warm and classic feel without going over the top.

The Deliverables:

Long Form Content: Three 5+ minute videos

Short Form Content: Multiple high-quality, edited Reels ready for Social Media

Assets: The entire catalog of footage for GPW to use at their leisure. Below is a montage of just a bit of the footage I turned over to GPW.
